A lot of us have struggled in their past with acne, but some of us still have scars to show even years after that. These scars could easily make anyone self-conscious and embarrassed, and we often resort to makeup or other temporary solutions to somehow cover those ugly memorabilia of our youth.
But, there is a way! There are, in fact, a lot of ways with which you can rid of those ugly scars permanently and feel beautiful once more, even without makeup. These treatments range from simple medicaments to more serious surgery, depending on how severe your scars are and how much you are willing to spend.
What are those methods of scar treatment?
There are a couple of choices for you to browse through. The simplest way of getting rid of those scars is to use some kind of serum, usually made with antioxidants, including a couple vitamins which are crucial to healing. The serums are not unreasonably expensive and are not very intrusive, as all you have to do is to apply them to your face according to the included instructions. The serum works in a natural way, helping your body seal the scars on its own, repairing the damage and making your skin look beautiful.
What if I have more stubborn scars and serums do not help?
Another good idea, which is a bit more expensive but a lot more effective, is microneedling. Microneedling is a technique performed in a clinic by a dermatologist and has been proven to be one of the most successful treatments for acne scars. Do not worry about pain during the treatment, as a doctor will always apply a local anesthetic in a gel which will numb the pain. This method will leave your face a bit sore and red for a day or two, but the effects are definitely worth it.
Is there anything to prevent scars if I am going through acne right now?
Of course! Every doctor will tell you that it is always better to prevent a problem rather than treat it afterwards. The easiest tip you can follow to prevent scars from forming is to wear a simple sunscreen. Most sunscreens contain a substance called niacinamide, which protects your skin from after-effects of acne, and might even reduce quite a bit.
There is also a variety of peels available on the market, which are used to remove the top layers of your skin, which not only reveals a fresh skin which is underneath but also cleanses your pores and helps fight acne. These peels often take advantage of glycolic acid, which easily finds its way deep into your skin and improves its health by removing dead skin cells.
Is there any easy way to treat small scars and spots?
Absolutely! Visit a dermatologist to get the best idea what kind of substance may work the best in your case, but there are a lot of products to choose from. There are pigment gels, which are used in order to brighten your skin and refresh it. These gels also work wonders for small acne scars, covering them and helping them heal. There are also a couple of creams available, which are applied directly to the spots. These creams are similar to peels or serums, but you leave most often are supposed to leave them on for the night and wash your face in the morning.
I have some very severe scars, what do I do!
First of all – do not panic. There are ways to deal even with the most severe and deep scars, but it may cost you a bit. One of the more popular ways of treating acne scars that are too stubborn to be removed in other ways are dermal fillers. The treatment produces immediate results – you will be able to see your beautiful and healthy skin right after the procedure. The injected collagen helps your body regenerate, and the filler stretches the scars in order to make them much less visible. The effects will be visible even after some time, but keep in mind that you may have to redo the treatment in the future for them to remain permanent.
