Even with the growing popularity of cosmetic procedures, for some Australians, it is still a taboo topic. An underlying fear is still present concerning cosmetic shaming of most of the patients and top reasons are the following:
They are superficial
For those who have undergone cosmetic enhancements, they are being judged as vain, with a lack of character or priorities to become more like a Hollywood star. The truth is there is nothing wrong with it for reasons such as tweaking some minor issues, enhancing some areas of the body we dislike, or resolving a health issue. In reality, these people felt healthier, were less anxious, and had developed more self-esteem.
Media scrutiny and pressure
Media is responsible for publicly shaming someone, especially a celebrity. Even from the tiniest enhancement to the more extreme transformation, they scrutinize everyone to make people feel that they have to hide their cosmetic enhancement. In the same way, media can also influence what the ideal beauty is and plays a role in the growing popularity of cosmetic procedures.
Everyday people do not care about what’s on the inside
While skeptics see only superficial reasons, at SKIN CLUB – Cosmetic Doctors, we see many reasons why a person wants to enhance their looks. From wanting to change something that has bothered them all their lives, to correcting their appearance due to injury or to bring a little bit of youth back in their lives, there is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing cosmetic modifications. What is wrong is how we unfairly criticize people for doing so.
