In August 2011, Korean pop singer Kim Hyun Joong admitted on Korean station MBC’s show ‘Knee-Drop Guru’ that he had rhinoplasty (nose job) to improve his appearance. The host, Kang Ho Dong asked Kim whether his looks were natural or the work of a surgeon. Kim said it’s God-given but the doctor put the finishing touch on it due to a rock incident. This latest development indicates a larger trend that more men are seeking out cosmetic treatments. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, between 2000 and 2005, there was a 50% increase of men seeking non-invasive cosmetic procedures and continues to grow each year. While the kinds of procedures vary, here are the 2 procedures that are on the top of the list.
1.Anti Wrinkle Injections
On top of the list is the Anti Wrinkle Injections. This muscle relaxant injectable is effective to smooth facial lines and wrinkles. Since men’s muscles are stronger, more doses of this drug are required.
2.PRP Therapy for Hair Loss
It is a well-known fact that most men by the age of 50 or even earlier, experience some kind of hair loss. However, the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy appears to help regrow lost hair. PRP is a 3-step medical treatment in which a person’s blood is drawn, processed, and then injected into the scalp. Since PRP therapy involves injecting your blood into your scalp, you aren’t at risk for getting a communicable disease. It requires 3 treatments 4–6 weeks apart and touch-ups are required every 4–6 months.
