In 2015, a 17-year-old Kylie Jenner finally admitted in a Keeping Up With The Kardashians episode that she had undergone lip filler injections. This revelation came up 8 months after appearing with a significantly larger pout. It birthed the trend, #KylieJennerChallenge, where girls were sticking their lips inside a glass and sucking the air out for a swollen lip. For Kylie to have undergone this procedure, Kris & Bruce Jenner had to sign a permission letter. In the US, parent consent is a requirement for all cosmetic procedures under 18 years old. In NSW cosmetic plastic surgeries, the ages between 15 – 18 years old are not required to have parental consent and a 3 month cooling off period from the consultation to the surgery. Although some object to the idea of allowing minors to get cosmetic treatments as incentives, Jenner’s parents Kris and Bruce Jenner, and sister Kim Kardashian are not against teenage cosmetic surgeries and enhancements since they had cosmetic procedures themselves. Over 100,000 minors in 2014 had cosmetic procedures according to the statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
