You put on your best dress and did your makeup and hair. Everything is on fleek. Or is it? Have you been feeling like something just does not add up? That perfect instagram look you have been going for, just does not come right?

You have been wondering how that influencer got such a sharp look on that latest mirror selfie. The answer, if you notice carefully is in the jawline. Have you considered getting your jawline contoured? Move on from the plump lips trend, there is a new boss in town! Yes.

Well, jawlines are the latest rage right now.

We work hard to maintain our body, health and even our hair. We spend time following beauty skincare routines for our faces, but often small areas like our jawlines and our necks do not get enough attention from us. Trust me, a small alteration in the lower face can make a huge and stunning difference in your face.

Consider getting a jawline contouring treatment today, to complete your looks. But before going in for the procedure, you should first know a little bit about jawline slimming. Let us start with the number of ways can you get your jawline contoured.

Jawline contouring procedures can be divided into two main categories and some sub-categories –

  • Surgical jawline augmentation:

Jawline surgery is a procedure, that can improve the shape of your jaw and chin. It can be performed by a cosmetic surgeon to either enhance and contour the shape of your jaw or in other cases, reduce the size of your jaw bone in order to give your lower face a slimmer and more pointed look.

  • Non-surgical jawline augmentation:

Dermal Fillers: Dermal fillers becoming more popular day by day for all kinds of cosmetic treatments. If you have sagging skin or excess fat on your chin, or a double chin you can easily opt to get dermal filler injections in order to correct or enhance their appearance with a more prominent-looking jawline. Once your dermal fillers have settled in along the chin, your chin and jawline will look much more contoured and shapely.

Botox: Another non-surgical solution for improving your chin shape is to get botox solution injected into your masseter muscle. The masseter muscle is also commonly responsible for the appearance of large, prominently shaped jaw. Botox injections will weaken this masseter muscle and also shrink it a bit. This procedure takes just 15 minutes on each side of the face. It is also very smooth and effective with no pain, and minimal down timefor recovery. Patients will gradually begin to see the effects after a 2 – 3 weeks, with the full effects being visible after 1 month

CoolSculpting: CoolSculpting is a totally non-invasive procedure. It can get rid of the stubborn fat pockets on your lower face, and give your jaw a good shape. This procedure takes just about an hour in an outpatient setting. CoolSculpting uses a controlled cooling technology to freeze the fat cells without affecting the skin above, giving you in a more prominent jawline. CoolSculpting fat sculpting is an FDA approved procedure.

Kybella: Kybella injections are the latest rage in the field of jawline augmentation. These injections will help you reshape and contour your jaw line in just a few sessions. Kybella injections are also approved by the FDA. These injections act as long term solutions for safely dissolving fat and keeping the fat from coming back. Kybella injections are made from a compound which is naturally produced from our bodies, and hence is very safe to be injected on your lower face. Kybella injections are also non-surgical, fast and safe for your cosmetic goals taking about 30 minutes. Most people need about 2 – 4 sessions of this treatment to see complete results. Kybella injections can give you a confidence boost by making you look younger and sharper.

Now, this may all be a bit confusing for you. We understand. Mostly, you are divided between surgical or non-surgical procedures. Let us tell you which one might be a better fit for you.

Surgical procedures are a permanent solution to contour your jaw line. While this is a major perk of surgery, the risks may outweigh this in the long run. Surgical procedures include making incisions on your face; which increases the risk of scarring and infections. In contrast to this, the non-surgical treatments do not require any kind of incisions to be made on your lower face. There is no risk of scarring aw well. Hence, surgical procedures are much more invasive compared to non-surgical procedures.

Yes, all cosmetic procedures pose some risks of infection. Non-surgical treatments pose some risks of infection but they are much safer and easy to cure than surgical infections. Also, surgical procedures require much more downtime for recovery, while non surgical procedures can get you back to your daily routine within 24 hours of the surgery. The surgical healing process is much more complicated, but the non-surgical treatments may cause just some mild discomfort and swelling, which is easily manageable at home using cold compress packs.

Another downside to surgical jawline augmentation is that it is a permanent and irreversible procedure. The non-surgical version on the other hand is semi-permanent, and the effects eventually wear off after sometime depending on the treatment. If you do not like the results of the treatment, a non-surgical treatment will be the easier one for you.
